See Us & Like Us on Facebook
Welcome to our website. If you live and walk in Loudoun County, we want this to become your go-to site for information.
Watch for updates to the site as we expand our content to include more general walking, volkssport, walking-related fitness and health information, a Facebook page, a Blog, more photos, etc.
If you have a comment, e.g., additional content you'd like to see or a not-for-profit walking-related activity in the county to publicize (fundraising "cause" walks will be considered on a case-by-case basis), please contact us.
Tour Leesburg App Available
The town of Leesburg released an app that highlights sites you walk by in and around the historic district. Augmenting the notes in the club's route directions, this GPS-enabled app alerts you when you reach a site so you can learn about it. Available for iPhone and Android devices.
It's 2018: Are You Walking?
We're having a relatively mild winter with a few cold spells. That gives us plenty of opportunities to walk.
When the temperature is comfortable there are plenty of outside places to walk--your neighbor-hood, parks, in town, on a year-round volkssport event.
Unwelcome weather? Take it inside--treadmill or stepper at a fitness facility, Dulles Town Center mall, the aisles of a big box store. (My wife and I regularly enjoy strolling the walkways at the mall--about 3/4 of a mile for one loop on either floor, if you include the side walkways and around the food court too).
So, don't let the weather stop you--find a way anyway.
Pub volksmarches. If you are a beer enthusiast and volkssporter, you can satisfy both cravings when you walk the year-rounds in Purcellville and Leesburg. The routes take you near several on each.
Better yet, walk Leesburg during the AVA Atlantic Region's conference March 16-18 (see article in left column for details). That walk takes you by every microbrewery/pub, wine bar, and the new cidery. The directions even call them out. Do-it-yourself pub crawl!
